The aim of the research is to determine the axiological grounds for the interpretation of the dichotomous group ONE’S OWN – ALIEN by an individual during verbal communication. The scientific novelty of the research is determined by the comprehensive psycho- and pragmalinguistic approach to the study of the category of value being transmitted via “one’s own” and “alien” which made it possible to consider the dichotomy as a relatively stable evaluative and emotional system of meanings formed through the superposition of several individual mental spaces. The author presents the dichotomous group ONE’S OWN – ALIEN as a regulator of valuable, spiritual and practical mastery of the world. The authors connect the processes of understanding and interpretation of ONE’S OWN and ALIEN with the aims of activity (verbal as well as non-verbal) of a typical representative of a sociocultural community in combination with the peculiarities of the macrocommunicative situation. As a result of the research, it was proved that the dichotomous group ONE’S OWN – ALIEN was a verbalized archetypal result of the process of understanding and categorization of value-coloured senses being transmitted in specific conditions of communication and allowing to structure interpersonal communication.
