In the practice of bibliotherapy, mythological characters are resurrected in the patient's chair, and we ask ourselves how and even whether they can break free from the myth that imprisons them. I will begin this discussion with a psych mythological examination of the myth of Daedalus and Icarus, and then review Gabriel's treatment, as reflected in the myth. In conclusion, I will present my observations of Gabriel's writing, which constitutes a rebellion of the mind against a draconian paternal command. Writing will be presented as a flight that does not bring with it the verdict of death, as is the case in the myth of Daedalus and Icarus, but rather transforms the materials of our lives, including injurious moments, into a springboard for growth. This discussion portrays the language of speech as serving the ego-consciousness, while the language of writing, is a bridge in which external and internal realities can converge.
