Modern scientifi c sources devoted to complex morphogenetic and topographical- anatomical features of the development of perineal structures are analyzed. During the last time, the establishment of thorough knowledge of the sequence of emergence of the rudiments of structures of the human body remained one ofthe most pressing questions of modern morphology. Despite the rapid increase in the incidence of congenital malformations, including malformations of the perineal area, the scientifi cally described etiopathogenetic aspects of these conditions remain insu ffi cient and controversial due to partial investigation, complexity of morphogenetic aspects, and heterogeneity of the structures of the studied area. In view of the latter, there is a need for further more accurate and narrow- profi le studies, which would focus on the features of morphogenesis and critical periods of development of fetal structures. A deep understanding of the phasing of processes and critical periods of fetal development will make it possible to track etiopathogenetic factors in the development of birth defects. The obtained morphological data, in turn, will become a scientifi c basis for improving known and developing new anatomically based methods of surgical correction of both acquired and congenital defects of this area. The purpose of the study is to analyze the modern scientifi c literature devoted to the peculiarities of the insertion, development of the structure, topographic- anatomical transformations of the structures of the male perineum, to identify controversial and consensus issues regarding the formation of the syntopy of the structures of the urogenital and rectal triangles of the male perineum.Material and methods. The available sources of foreign scientifi c literature from the electronic databases «PubMed», «Google scholar» were analyzed. Various forms of information-a nalytical analysis are used: research of current problems, content analysis.Conclusions. Solving controversial issues, understanding complex topographical- anatomical relationships and obtaining new knowledge about the morphogenetic features of the formation of structures in the perineal area will contribute to a deeper understanding of the etiopathogenesis of congenital defects in the perineal area, will contribute to the development and improvement of the latest anatomically based methods of surgical correction of congenital defects.
