Green synthetic approach for the synthesis of Iron oxide (α‐Fe 2 O 3 ) nanoparticles were successfully carried out using Aspergillus oryzae culture mediated biogenic route. The synthesized nanoparticle was confirmed by structural and optical characterization with the help of hematite phase. The α‐Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles show antimicrobial activity against bacterial strains Staphylococcus aureus , Pseudomonas aeruginosa and fungal strain Candida albicans . Under visible light, the α‐Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles demonstrate remarkable antibacterial action, confirming their superior efficacy for photocatalytic remediation. The present study discloses that the α‐Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles are efficient photocatalysts for 96 % degradation of basic fuchsin dye and highly active antimicrobial agent.
