In this paper, a wideband omnidirectional dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is proposed. The antenna contains a tri-mode dielectric resonator (DR), which is fed by a coaxial probe. The TM <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">01</inf> , TM <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">02</inf> and TM <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">03</inf> modes can be excited at the same time to enhance the bandwidth. The proposed antenna operating at 13.25–21.32 GHz exhibits a simulated −10dB impedance matching bandwidth of 46.7% and a stable omnidirectional radiation pattern over the whole working bandwidth.
