The phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) converter is a preferred topology for isolated DC-DC converters with medium to high power levels. It can be utilised in a variety of applications preferably with wide input and/or output range. The efficiency of the converter as well as its power density are important factors for modern applications in the automotive industry or renewable energy sources. New semiconductor components based on gallium-nitride ( <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">GaN</tex> ) and silicon-carbide (SiC) together with suitable converter modification enable to increase in the efficiency and switching frequency. The PSFB converter with controlled rectifier and secondary side energy recovery snubber versa the PSFB converter with synchronous rectifier are compared by simulation for different operational conditions.
