This study presents the development of an optical oxygen sensor film connected to a 7-bundle fiber splitter. Its principle of operation is based on fluorescence quenching (FQ). The prototype device aims to enhance sensing stability, and facilitate application in diverse environments. We report on the synthesis, encapsulation, and characterization of PtOEP doped (1.6k ppm/wt.) in thin PDMS film along with dispersed Al <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> O <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> nanoparticles. The Stern–Volmer relation holds for our samples. A FQ dynamic range of 14.6 ± 0.4 dB was achieved for all samples, compared with 4.8 dB measured with the commercial ODO sensor cap under the same experimental conditions. This represents a relative increase near to 10 fold.
