Movies have been used to portray the world, as well as the cultures we live in, in the way that we view them. Whether that be the original Godzilla as commentary on nuclear war, Moana, an orignial story inspired by ancient polynesian myths and culture, or Heathers, a thriller about the views of teenagehood and suicidal ideation, movies of all different genres have been used to communicate the complexities of our society to us in a way that is unique and interesting. And while a movie itself would typically be analyzed for those reasons, the characters we see in the movie should also be taken into consideration when studying the reflections of culture and cultural values. The purpose of this study is to find the common dominant personality traits of horror movie characters from two different cultural regions and to compare them in terms of how they, as well as their cultures, are different.
