New perspectives in GaI and InI chemistry: The salts of 'naked' M+ (M = Ga, In) ions with a weakly coordinating, fluorinated alkoxyaluminate anion have been isolated, and the stability of M+ with this anion in the coordinating solvents acetonitrile and diethyl ether has been demonstrated. The results will allow the coordination chemistry of M+ with weak ligands and the reactivity of M+ in standard solvents to be examined. The cover portrays these new possibilities as M+ hikers in a mysterious nighttime landscape. More information can be found in the Research Article by I. Krossing and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202400897).
