We report the magnetoelectric and optical properties of PbMn2Ni6Te3O18, a hexagonal collinear antiferromagnet with ferroaxial-type structural rotation. In the antiferromagnetic phase, we observe that the electric polarization (P) in the ab plane is linearly induced by a magnetic field applied in the ab plane but perpendicular to P, indicating the existence of off-diagonal linear magnetoelectricity. Furthermore, we observe the nonreciprocal directional dichroism for unpolarized light propagating along the c axis. These results indicate that PbMn2Ni6Te3O18 is a ferrotoroidic material with the c-axis toroidal moment which is induced by the combination of ferroaxial-type structural rotation and falsely chiral antiferromagnetism.
