This paper presents the implementation of field-oriented control for healthy operation of a five-phase permanent magnet synchronous machine and vector control under one phase open-circuit fault. Concepts such as: vector placement, optimal current waveforms for minimum copper losses, post-fault decoupling and vector orthogonality reconstruction will be detailed and implemented in the following paper, starting with theoretical analysis, details about the proof of concept and finalizing with experimental results showing the performances of the proposed strategies.
