This article addresses the requirements of ESD protection for sensitive components against electrostatic phenomena and describes a possible approach to defining ESD protective measures based on ESD risk analysis in a production line. When implementing ESD protection in a manufacturing facility according to current standards, there may be a need to tailor the standard control program to the specific situation based on the type of workplace. One way to customize is the design of ESD protective measures in the production line based on ESD risk analysis, which takes into account possible sources of risks and their consequences regarding the type of workplace. Such optimization of ESD protective measures design brings positive impacts in both technical and economic aspects.
