Goal. To find out the possibilities of using the available information and international methods of water resources management to optimize the water resources management system in Ukraine, which will contribute to the solution of problems related to the financial support of their effective and rational use. Methods. Scientific and special methods were applied, such as the dialectical method of cognition (analysis of legislative and regulatory acts and scientific works of scientists on the issue of optimizing the water resources management system in Ukraine), the use of analogies (transferring the patterns of process development in one territory to another territory), and abstract logical approach (theoretical generalizations and formulation of conclusions), statistical and graphical methods (determining the main trend of the dynamics of indicators using diagrams in the Microsoft Excel 2010 program). Results. The strategies that foreign countries use to manage water resources are determined and summarized. The main approaches aimed at achieving an ecological and economic balance between the use of water resources and their conservation are outlined. It was established that in Ukraine, the indicator of the share of water withdrawal for agriculture from the total renewable water resources for the period 2016–2020 decreased from 1. 81% to 1. 75%. Our state belongs to the countries with the lowest efficiency of water use in irrigated agriculture for the studied period — 0. 06/m3. In this regard, it is proposed to transfer the foreign experience of water resources management to Ukrainian realities, taking into account such specific factors as climatic conditions, ecological features, and financial and economic capabilities of the state. Based on the conducted research, the strategic directions for improving the water resources management system in Ukraine were outlined: reforming the tariff policy; stimulation of investments; introduction of subsidies and grants; and international cooperation. Conclusions. The need to improve the management of water resources in Ukraine thanks to the assimilation of foreign experience is scientifically substantiated, which will contribute to the optimization of water use, the maintenance of ecological sustainability, and the economic progress of the country for a long time. Foreign experience shows that the integration of ecological and economic aspects of water resources management is a key factor in ensuring the country's sustainable development. The interaction between these spheres makes it possible to balance economic and social needs with the need to preserve environmental sustainability. Important conditions for the successful management of water resources are the systematic application of effective technologies and strategies, the development of financial mechanisms to stimulate investments in the water sector, and the expansion of partnerships with the private sector to attract investments in water projects.
