Analysis reveals a shift in how Kalmyk poets perceive Pushkin, suggesting a move from 'one's own' to 'the other'.
The author of the article examines the Pushkin theme in modern Kalmyk Russian-language lyrics in the aspect of “one's own” - “the other”. For Kalmyk poets, A. S. Pushkin's perception as “one's own”, a native, a close person and as a genius is primarily due to the poet's sympathetic attitude towards Kalmyks, reflected in his work of different years, in his formulas “friend of the Kalmyk steppes”, “kind Kalmyk woman”. Poems dedicated to Pushkin, journalism, memoirs, and translation are typical of poets of the older generations. In modern Kalmyk Russian-language lyrics, the Pushkin theme is presented much narrower than in Kalmyk lyrics. In our opinion, the paradigm of “one's own” in relation to the classic of Russian literature has shifted towards the “other” paradigm. The frequency of works addressed to A. S. Pushkin has decreased, the locality of their subject matter is focused on reading certain textbook Pushkin texts, selected pages of his biography. Pushkin the suffering, Pushkin the native, Pushkin the talented, Pushkin the playful - some facets of this image are in the response poems and essays of modern Kalmyk poets.
