There are many ways of surgical treatment of pterygium, including combined methods. Despite a wide range of technics, their effectiveness remains an actual problem because of high recurrence rates. Autolimbal transplantation as a pathogenetically oriented way of treating partial limbal deficiency, which results in pterygium, minimizes its growth. Due to the trend towards the use of adhesive compositions for tissue fixation, we have proposed fixation of an autolimbal graft using two-component autofibrin glue. A comparative analysis of the effectiveness of surgical treatment of recurrent pterygium using two-component autofibrin glue and sutures for autolimbal graft fixation was carried out. The study included 15 patients, they were divided into 2 groups depending on the method of fixation: main group (8 people), where the graft was fixed with two-component autofibrin glue, control group (7 people), where sutures were used. All patients underwent biomicroscopy and optical coherence tomography of the anterior segment before and after surgery; we compared the duration of the operation, epithelialization and rehabilitation period and severity of discomfort in the postoperative period between two groups. The presence of pterygium recurrence in the study groups was assessed during 24-month observation. During this study we found out the advantages of fixation using two-component autofibrin glue. Within 24 months after the surgical procedure, there was one case of recurrence of pterygium in both groups. This allows us to choose twocomponent autofibrin glue as a priority way of fixing the autolimbal graft during surgical completion of recurrent pterygium.
