The interaction between the inverter and the grid can result in system oscillation or instability. A widely used approach for investigating the stability of grid-connected inverter systems is sequence-impedance-based analysis. Most impedance/admittance models of inverters tend to ignore the influence of converter DC port disturbances and external loop control on system stability, and directly equate the DC side of the inverter as a voltage source. When the inverter DC port disturbances are large, ignoring the strong frequency coupling between AC and DC may lead to system stability misjudgement. To remedy this deficiency, a third-order derivative model is proposed for a typical LCL-filtered grid-connected converter in this paper, which takes into account the AC-side frequency coupling and AC-DC frequency coupling. The simulation outcomes validate the accuracy of the proposed model.
