This work analyzes the impact of a digital automatic gain control (AGC) module within quantized orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems for fifth-generation (5G) networks due to the necessity of decreasing the effective number of bits (ENOBs) in analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). Diverse data sources, including simulation and laboratory data, are employed in the AGC design process. The results demonstrate the AGC's adaptability across nine different ENOB configurations. Furthermore, a hardware implementation of the AGC is executed, revealing a significantly low resource usage and emphasizing its practicality for real-world applications.
