Aim of the paper is to show a practical solution to the problem of designing bi-dimensional planar time-modulated arrays (TMAs) with a high number of radiating elements to be exploited in precise wireless power transfer applications. Despite being a widely discussed issue, it is typically faced from a purely theoretical point of view. The described and realized radial arrangement operating at 2.45 GHz not only exploits the benefits of the circular symmetry, but also allows, for the first time, an easy and feasible control of the time-modulated mechanism through the reduction of the driving switches number. Despite this, the almost real-time reconfiguration of the radial TMA is also validated by numerical optimization.
