In this study, simple phased arrays used as a power transmitting antenna in near-field wireless power transmission at 28 GHz band were investigated by electromagnetic field simulations. In particular, beamforming using a flat-topped beam was carried out to improve the power transmission efficiency. The change in transmission efficiency when the number of receiving antenna elements is varied was calculated using simulation results. The calculation results show that threshold qualified arrays can provide efficiencies close to those of fully driven arrays, regardless of the number of receiving antenna elements.
