This paper proposes a simultaneous wireless power and data transfer (SWPDT) system. A series-parallel (SP) compensation topology is adopted by considering the energy transfer efficiency and resonant characteristics, which has a constant voltage transfer ratio under resonant frequency via a single inductive coil. Amplitude-shift keying (ASK) modulation technology is employed in data communication, and the encoded data is modulated into a PWM signal. The original encoded data is obtained by demodulating rectified voltage at the receiver. The theoretical analysis preliminarily verified the feasibility of the proposed system, and a prototype was implemented. The transmitter applies GaN to enhance the switching frequency of power switches, and the receiver performs sampling of the demodulated signal. The transmitter and receiver are controlled by DSP and FPGA chips, respectively. Finally, the proposed SWPDT system is demonstrated from the circuit implementation, and the experimental results show the superior performance of simultaneous wireless power and data transfer.
