With the continuous advancement of computer vision technology and sophisticated projection equipment, the method of projecting onto special-shaped surfaces has become a current research hotspot and can be widely utilized in fields such as art performance, auxiliary teaching, and digital twins. The special-shaped surface projection method is aimed at exploring how to use a projector to cast images onto an special-shaped surface, and then achieve a consistent display effect with the geometric shape. In pursuit of a more precise projection effect on special-shaped surfaces, this paper proposes a projection method for irregular surfaces based on striped structured light technology. Firstly, we resolve the mapping relationship between the pixel points on the imaging plane of the projector and those of the camera's imaging plane. Then, we designe a geometric correction algorithm for the projected image to obtain the ideal projection effect. Experimental results have demonstrated that our method can achieve special-shaped surface projection with greater precision and robustness compared to traditional methods such as the surface fitting-based distortion correction algorithm and the isophase-based distortion correction algorithm.
