The impact of human actions on the contamination of the sediments of the Digboué lagoon remains unknown despite concerns about the toxic threat posed by ETM (Metal Trace Elements) in the estuaries in Côte d'Ivoire.This study consists of evaluating the level of metal pollution in the sediments of the Digboué lagoon.The method used for this purpose consists of sampling the surface sediments (rainy and dry season), then quantifying the metal concentrations in the sediments using the spectrometric technique.The level of pollution of sedimentary ETMs was determined from the geoaccumulation indices (Igeo) and the enrichment factor (EF).The methodology ended with the assessment of the toxicological risk of ETMs based on the TEC (Threshold Effects concentrations) and PEC (Probable Effect Concentration) guide values.The metal concentrations of ETM (Chromium, lead, arsenic, cadmium, iron) are high in the North-East and North-West lagoon arms and low to the south of the estuary.The level of pollution through the calculation of the geo accumulation index (Igéo) shows negative values for lead, chromium, arsenic and iron.However, the average Igeo of cadmium is positive and equal to 0.45 and 1.51 respectively in the rainy season and dry season.The average enrichment factor oscillates between 1.46 and 37.03 in the rainy season and 1.22 to 80.93 in the dry season.However, these metals have values lower than the standard TEC.
