This study uses Chinese firm export data to investigate the heterogeneous impact of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) faced by firms on export recovery, and then explores the moderating effect of the regional digital economy. We find that the rise in EPU due to external shocks weakens firms' export recovery. By reducing export costs and improving export margins, the development of the regional digital economy mitigates this weakening effect, but this effect is pronounced in more productive firms. These findings provide policy insights for improving supply chain stability under uncertainty, and thus promoting collaborative development of the real-economy and digital economy.
