Inhalation sedation, or conscious sedation, is a procedure in which the patient is provided with a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen throughout the entire session. Through inhalation, using a mask, these substances aim to reduce states of anxiety that could impact the effectiveness of dental treatment. Throughout this procedure, the patient remains conscious and retains intact reflexes, experiencing instead a pleasant sensation of relaxation, calmness, and mild anesthesia. This technique is useful in cases of stress, anxiety, and fear that may hinder the successful completion of dental procedures.
