Driven by dual-carbon targets, electric vehicles are gradually replacing petroleum vehicles as the first major player in the automotive market. In order to meet the charging demand of electric vehicle users, an excellent charging pile siting strategy is needed. This paper proposes an electric vehicle charging pile siting method based on the face demand method. First, the microgrid area is modelled in a zonal manner based on the existing distribution of slow and fast charging piles. Second, the optimal charging pile layout area is determined by combining the distribution of electric vehicle users and the traffic flow in each microgrid region. Considering that there are more distributed power sources and energy storage facilities in the microgrid, the location of these distributed energy facilities needs to be considered comprehensively in the site selection process in order to minimise wind and light abandonment. Finally, an improved particle swarm algorithm is applied to simulate the case to verify the correctness of the adopted siting strategy.
