This work introduces a high-efficiency power amplifier (PA) with broadband capabilities, incorporating a novel multi-harmonic tuning network (HTN) based on metamaterials. The distinctive feature of this approach lies in its ability to simultaneously manipulate the second and third harmonic impedances using a straightforward metamaterial-based multi-HTN integrated into the output-matching network. Through the employment of this methodology, the PA attains remarkable efficiency by optimizing the positions of both fundamental and harmonic impedances, while also achieving enhanced linearity through the suppression of the third harmonic. To demonstrate this concept, an amplifier inspired by the complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) is designed and implemented, employing the Cree 10W GaN HEMT. Operating within the frequency range of 0.5-3.0 GHz, the PA showcases a peak drain efficiency ranging from 48.5% to 80.5%, with a corresponding peak output power of 39-41.9 dBm achieved at saturation across the specified frequency band.
