The paper describes the use of ECD shielding novel fluid technology system along with engineering design method to effectively cement production strings under losses conditions. The studied wells were drilled in Kurdistan in the northern region of Iraq, an area where losses are a common drilling challenge due to naturally occurring fractures and high permeability in carbonate reservoirs. The design allowed the operator to establish well integrity and achieve zonal isolation across production zones and minimize formation damage. The close collaboration between the operator and service company helped develop a fluid design and placement strategy that eliminated the need for remedial cementing jobs, thus providing a cost reduction and a reduced carbon footprint and helped obtaining reliable well testing information.
