Indroduction Cochlear implantation should be as atraumatic as possible to preserve the cochlear structures aiming for the best outcomes with the CI. Flexible electrodes were developed and allow hearing preservation today. By augmenting the current electrode design with pharmaceutical therapies, the immune reaction can be reduced, which can support the preservation of the intracochlear structures.
