This technical note proposes a new index for measuring the tail-heaviness of a probability distribution, named tail-heaviness index. The proposed tail-heaviness index is defined as the ratio between the right-side uncertainty length of the distribution and that of the standard exponential distribution. Tail-heaviness indices for four distributions are presented.
