Introduction Prior to the introduction of endoscopic endonasal choanal atresia repair with resection of dorsal septal parts in 1990, the transnasal puncturing and the transpalatinal resection of the choanal atresia with long-term stenting were the methods of choice. The new technique has reduced recurrence- and complication rates. This study examines whether resection of dorsal septal parts has become the standard for surgical repair of congenital choanal atresia in Germany and whether stents are widely used.
