Background The measurement of muscular activity in the face is a central component in the diagnosis of patients with facial nerve palsy. Magnetomyography (MMG) is a method for contactless measurement of magnetic muscle potentials. This study investigated whether non-invasive MMG using optically pumped magnetometers (OPM) is a feasible instrument for visualizing facial muscle activity.
