Introduction Parotid gland tumors are an inhomogeneous and molecularly heterogeneous group of tumors that can only be diagnosed by histopathology after invasive sampling. In this prospective pilot study, pleomorphic adenoma (PA) and Warthin tumor (WT) were examined in vivo using multispectral optoacoustic tomography (MSOT) to assess the applicability of MSOT in differentiating between these tumors.
