The paper reviews problems of the determination of boundaries and criteria of the concept of innovations in civil law, analyzes regulatory provisions, shows the need for civil perception of the innovation phenomenon and synchronization of laws in the sphere of regulation of relations arising in view of the development, introduction and use of innovations.
