According to the Amputee Coalition, there is a significant demand for prosthetics. The current design of prosthetics limbs are unable to meet the requirements of amputees due to difficulty in accurately controlling the prosthetic, exorbitant prices, and lack of spatial awareness. There is an urgent need for the development of an effective electroencephalogram (EEG) controlled prosthetic limb. This research proposes the first AI based EEG Haptic Feedback Full Prosthetic Arm named NeuroLimbAI. Employing forward and inverse kinematics, we are able to properly reflect these actions in a low cost motorized arm prosthesis. A 5-finger robotic hand is used to grip objects. Film pressure sensors mounted on the hand's fingers provide tactile feedback and drive vibration motors worn on the patient's body, which gives real time spatial awareness of the prosthetic arm as well as simulated real feeling. The pressure sensors are also used to provide force feedback to form a closed-loop control system to achieve accurate motion control of the fingers, which will help avoid breaking objects due to over gripping force. This research has immediate application in Neuroscience as well as haptic feedback sensors to enhance sensory feedback for humans in general.
