However, its widespread application is still hindered by the limited availability and expensive cost. Recently, the novel Shurui SP surgical robot system was developed in China. This study aimed to describe the first case of robotic pyeloplasty via transmesenteric approach using the Shurui SP surgical system for ureteropelvic junction obstruction. METHODS: We presented a case of a 29-year-old female patient with complaint of left flank pain for 4 months. Radiographic imaging demonstrated the left ureteropelvic junction obstruction with moderate hydronephrosis. We performed the robot-assisted pyeloplasty via transmesenteric approach using the novel Shurui single-port surgical system. RESULTS: The total operation time was 117 minutes with 11 minutes docking time and 106 minutes console time. The estimated blood loss was 5 ml. The patient presented with satisfactory cosmetic outcomes with only a 3 cm incision. The postoperative hospital stay was 5 days. There was no conversion to laparoscopic or open surgery. No intraoperative or postoperative complications occurred. Postoperative pathology confirmed the diagnosis of ureteral fibroepithelial polyps. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggested that using the novel Shurui single-port surgical system, robot-assisted pyeloplasty via transmesenteric approach is technically feasible for ureteropelvic junction obstruction caused by fibroepithelial polyps. However, large-sample, multicenter and long-term studies are still needed.
