Yagi-Uda antenna was first reported by Shintaro Uda in December 1925 in the Journal of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan under the title "On the wireless beam of short electric waves", and subsequently English paper entitled "Projector of the sharpest beam of electric waves" was published by Yagi and Uda in the Proceedings of Imperial Academy Japan in 1926. Furthermore, 11 papers entitled "On the wireless beam of short electric waves" were published by Uda on detailed experiments regarding the Yagi-Uda antenna. Based on these papers, an overview of the principle and development of the Yagi-Uda antenna is presented. Long-distance communication experiments in the UHF band (600MHz), as well as the history of experiments and practical applications in the VHF band (65MHz, 53MHz, 38MHz) using this antenna and the developed transceiver are described. An overview of the IEEE Milestone dedicated to the invention of this antenna in 1995, which was the first Milestone in the Asia-Oceania region, is also presented.
