Antenna design analysis demonstrates dual-band operation at 3.5 and 5.5 GHz for 8×8 arrays, indicating enhanced efficiency and reliability for advanced 5G IoT devices.
This research focuses on the development of a novel MIMO antenna for the Internet of Things (IoT) and future cellular communications. The antenna design comprises low-profile monopole antennas arranged in an 8×8 MIMO network with discrete-fed configurations. By etching these antennas on the same layer as the ground plane, they can operate at dual bands (3.5 and 5.5 GHz) within sub-6 GHz cellular networks for communications beyond 5G. Despite its compact size, the proposed design offers excellent utility. A comprehensive analysis of the antenna's characteristics is provided, emphasizing its capability to function as two distinct groups of high-gain beam-steerable phased arrays. This projected MIMO array demonstrates the potential to deliver optimal performance and meet the requirements of advanced IoT devices.
