A novel ferrite-loaded dual-polarized tightly coupled dipole antenna (TCDA) array is proposed in this paper. The ferrite square ring is loaded between the dipole and the base metal substrate, while periodic surfaces were covered the top of antenna, both which improve the impedance matching during scanning. The simulated results show that the TCDA has been mentioned is able to realize a 4.5:1 bandwidth (1-4.5GHz) with Active VSWR <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">< \2.5,3\</tex> when scanning-angle up to <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">\0∘70∘\</tex> in E-plane and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">\0∘45∘\</tex> in H-plane. The radiation efficiency of this proposed TCDA is in a position to reach 95%. The proposed scheme responds to the application of new materials in tightly coupled antenna design.
