A low-cost wideband dual-polarized planar tightly coupled dipole array (TCDA) with wide-angle scanning ability and low cross-polarization has been proposed in this article. The mirrored pair feeding (MPF) technique is proposed to increase the port spacing for feed structures and improve the cross-polarization level. A П-shaped integrated balun with five pairs of shorted vias is designed for removing the common-mode resonance. An 8×16 dual-polarized array prototype is designed, whose simulation results show the proposed antenna has a scanning range of ±70° from 8-16 GHz in the E-planes and ±50° from 10-16 GHz in the H-plane with 3.5 dB gain fluctuation, and the cross-polarization level is lower than -50 dB at broadside. The designed prototype has been fabricated and experimentally verified. The proposed antenna has merits of low cross-polarization, wide scanning-range, wide operating bandwidth and low profile.
