Miniaturized metamaterial-based antenna design with better average gain, average efficiency, low cross polarization, and good impedance matching covering multiband resonance frequencies is an uphill battle. To fulfill the requirement, a novel microstrip fed pentagonal shaped ENG unit cell with partial ground plane of overall dimension 18 × 9.5 mm² is proposed for various applications. The inverted pentagonal antenna with pentagonal slot inscribed on it is analyzed with respect to the reflection coefficient parameter. The proposed pentagonal antenna exhibits a better impedance matching at 2.43 GHz, 3.4 GHz and 4.56 GHz covering -10 dB wide bandwidth. T-shape slit of quarter wavelength of λg/4 is added to achieve the resonance at high frequency band. Computer Simulation Technology software tool is implemented for determining the various antenna parameters results.
