The regular assessment of the distribution network's hosting capacity (HC) is crucial for the secure and stable operation of the power system as the installed capacity of distributed photovoltaic (DPV) continues to increase. This paper introduces a multi-level estimation method for evaluating the regional distribution network's HC of DPVs. The method addresses the limitations of existing studies, which have a small assessment scale and use complex methodologies. It conducts comprehensive and integrated calculations for three hierarchical levels of distribution networks, ranging from equipment level to county level and provincial level, which allows to accurately identify the weak points of the distribution network. The proposed method is validated through a virtual study case, which indicates its high operability and reliable outcomes. The method could provide clearly guide for DPV integration across the entire province.
