Given the substantial consumption of traditional resources and the significant pollution associated with islands, the development of an integrated island-based power system has become a promising solution for promoting sustainable and environmental-friendly needs. Nevertheless, an improper allocation of multiple energy sources may result in undesirable costs and energy wastage. To address these challenges, this paper focuses on hybrid energy storage allocation optimization to reduce costs and greenhouse gas emissions in island microgrids. Furthermore, the characteristics of various energy resources in the island are analyzed and a hybrid intelligent methodology is utilized for optimizing the allocation problem. To verify the efficiency of the proposed methodology, the real-world data of Hengsha Island in Shanghai, China is selected for case studies. Numerical results indicate that the optimized allocating method significantly minimizes solar power curtailment. Additionally, the proposed methodology can help to decrease both economic expenditure and carbon emissions.
