A novel approach to shape recovery, recently developed for imaging perfectly conducting scatterers, is extended to impedance objects. The key idea used here is to convert the original boundary value problem into a volume integral equation with a singular scattering potential. An analytical expression for the potential is obtained, which interpolates between the Neumann and Dirichlet limiting cases. Then, a linear non-iterative algorithm is applied to the far field pattern to recover the shape of lossless objects with inductive- or capacitive-type impedances. Scalar two-dimensional formulation with TM-polarized incident wave is explored. Numerical simulations confirm the validity of the approach, even under the conditions of strong scattering.
