Objective Angiopoietin-like 3 (ANGPTL3), a member of the angiopoietin-like protein family exclusively synthesized in the liver, has been demonstrated to be a critical regulator of lipoprotein metabolism to inhibit lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activity .However, the relationship between serum ANGPTL3 level and CAD is still unclear. This study aims to explore the relationship between serum ANGPTL3 level and CAD. Methods In this case-control study, 236 subjects were divided into CAD group (n = 187) and control group (n = 49). The Gensini scoring system was used to assess the severity of CAD.Plasma ANGPTL3 levels were measured by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit. The associations between plasma ANGPTL3 levels and CAD were determined by multivariate logistic regression analysis. The association between ANGPTL3 levels and Gensini scores was determined by multivariate linear regression analysis. Results Serum ANGPTL3 levels in CAD group was significantly higher than that in control group(0.40 ± 0.06vs0.32 ± 0.06ng/ml,p < 0.001). After adjusting confounding factors, serum ANGPTL3 level was found to be an independent risk factor for CAD (OR = 5.03, 95%CI = 2.79–9.07, P < 0.001), and ANGPTL3 level was positively correlated with Gensini score(B = 5.192,95% CI 0.854–9.529, P = 0.019). Conclusion Compared with the control group, serum ANGPTL3 levels was significantly increased in CAD patients. Serum ANGPTL3 level is an independent risk factor for CAD and is positively correlated with the severity of CAD.
