This analysis reveals how manganese concentration influences phase states in chromium-manganese steel, suggesting its significance in temperature ranges.
Using the THERMOCALC software package, calculations of the phase state in the temperature range 500-1600 ° C were performed for eleven compositions of chromium-manganese stainless steels with a manganese content from 0 to 20% and a nitrogen content corresponding to the equilibrium limit for each composition. The results obtained are used to construct a phase diagram that allows us to evaluate the effect of manganese on the extent of the temperature and concentration of manganese in the areas of austenite, ferrite, chromium nitride, carbides, and σ-phase, affecting the technological and operational properties of nitrogen-alloyed corrosion-resistant steels.
