Observational analysis identifies failure distribution in CNC machine tools, suggesting reliability estimates.
This paper discusses the failure pattern and reliability of cutter-changeable CNC machine tools (machining centers) in China. 24 machining centers were tested and researched in the field over a period of two years. The failure data collected in the field are collated and statistically analysed. The results indicate that the failure distribution of MC fits the exponential distribution. This provides the basis for estimating the reliability of machining centers.
