Analysis reveals reliability weaknesses in subsystems of CNC machining centers, suggesting key areas for improvement.
This paper reports on work which considered the reliability of 20 cutter-changeable CNC machine tools — machining centers in China. Results were gathered by a combination of questionnaire and personal interviews supported by several detailed case studies of individual manufacturing companies. The results indicate that the reliability weak links exist in the three subsystems and the tool magazine and manipulator are the key in increasing the reliability of machine tools.
