This paper demonstrates elastic-viscoplasticity in large deformations, suggesting novel approaches for material behavior understanding.
The present paper is aimed to enhance the application of nonlinear geometric field (NGF) theory to the establishment of large deformation elastic-viscoplasticity for practical computation. A comparison of applicability of various definitions of strain for large displacement is first made. By NGF theory, we show that an unified theory of rigid body dynamics and mechanics of deformable body can be established. A rational approach of constitutive equations which can describe the behaviour of material from the elastic range to viscoplasticity is shown. The meanings of exact mathematical formulation of embedding co-ming coordinate reference system and objective stress and strain rate are explained. By means of so called “nonlinear gauge method,” computational examples of localized deformation problems are given to show the incipient plastic instability when plastic viscous flow is prominent.
