This analysis presents a model evaluating compaction and ejection phases in powder compacts, suggesting improvements in friction handling.
A model to describe the complete compaction, punch load relaxation and ejection of green powder compacts is presented and compared with experimental data. Very good overall agreement has been achieved for a simple cylindrical shape. The work confirms the need to model the relaxation phase using an incremental elastoplastic approach and that the effect of friction at the ejection stage should be modelled using an adhesion/tearing rule.
