This research discusses tendon force measurement in finger flexors, highlighting calibration issues and dynamic responses.
The development of in vivo tendon force (buckle) transducers has been discussed by An, et. al., (1990) and Komi (1987 & 1990); however, discussions of device calibration have not considered the dynamic response of the transducer or the effects of seating of the viscoelastic tendons on the transducer. We describe a buckle transducer for finger flexor tendons and summarize its performance, addressing the issue of tendon viscoelastic properties in developing a model to predict tendon tension from the transducer output.
